I met this sweet baby girl in her home when she was 10 days new. Mommy was so glad to finally have her baby girl to join their family with two older rambunctious brothers. We used soft pinks and purples to highlight the soft femininity of a new baby girl. Baby wasn't super interested in sleeping at the beginning (as is typical) but we got there in the end.

I met this little guy on his two week old birthday. We did photos with his parents and his maternal grandparents (who were in town to help out and meet their new grandson). This little guy was not super interested in sleeping but we got there in the end. I think babies must just be so excited for their photo debut because the moms of the babies I photograph frequently say that their baby usually sleeps around the time we do the session but the baby is usually awake at the beginning of their session. As long as they are content I will continue to take photos. I take my time and use all of my best soothing techniques and I can typically get the baby to sleep eventually. Check out my New Parent Email Guide if you want to learn some of these soothing techniques (the link is in the side bar or click the "Free Gift" link above)! I was so glad when a friend of mine messaged me on Facebook out of the blue about taking photos of her new baby boy! We had gone to the same church for a while but she moved away from our town about a year or two ago, though still close enough to make the drive over to see me in my home "studio" (I typically travel to the baby's home but there have been a few times when I shoot the session in my own home based on my client's needs). This baby boy was a little bit premature so we met for his photo-shoot when he was about a month old. He was still very sleepy although not quite as squishy/flexible as a brand new baby. But we still got some great newborn photos together! His mom brought a really cute African tribal print cloth to celebrate his father's heritage. I loved it since it allowed me to stretch my creativity from what I normally use. And I now have a cool new digital backdrop with an African theme (the one with the cloth laid out flat and the brown bowl on top). In a world that sometimes struggles with inclusivity, this beautiful family stands as a shining example of unity in diversity. Their love story is a reminder that our differences should be celebrated and cherished, for they make us who we are.
